International Ballet Festival
Grand Prix Kyiv – a nonprofit international youth competition-festival, that annually opens new names of future ballet stars, and all Grand Prix Kyiv participants have a possibility to perform at the main stage of the country – at National Opera House named after T.H.Shevchenko.
In 2014, People’s Artist of Ukraine, artistic director of Kyiv State Ballet College – Nobuhiro Terada, initiated an idea of unity of ballet schools, their teachers and students. Proper development for students and providing them with support in the future were taken as the main aims of Grand Prix Kyiv.
In 2015, supported by Toshihiko Takahashi – the chief patron of the competition, Grand Prix Kyiv was conducted for the first time at the all-Ukrainian level. The most talented young ballet dancers came to Kiyv to present their skills, obtain invaluable experience, get to know and work on the same stage with world famous ballet stars.
In 2016, Grand Prix Kyiv became a competition of an international level, and representatives from more than 10 countries came to compete.
In 2019, Grand Prix Kyiv celebrated two important occasions:
- Fifth Anniversary of Grand Prix Kyiv;
- Acception to Federation of Ballet Competitions under UNESCO.
We shouldn’t forget that throughout Grand Prix Kyiv history one the most world famous ballet stars were jury members: Volodymyr Malakhov, Leonid Sarafanov, Olena Philipeyva and others.
Grand Prix Kyiv team, headed by Nobuhiro Terada, do everything possible to ensure that the youth of the ballet world has possibilities for development and a worthy future.
